How to Get Out of Survival Mode: 7 Signs Your Nervous System Is Stuck (and What to Do About It)7/26/2026
Have you ever stopped and wondered...
"Why does everything feel so hard?" Even when things are going well, your body still feels like it's waiting for the other shoe to drop. Maybe you can't relax. Maybe your mind never stops. Maybe you're always preparing for the next problem before you've even enjoyed the present moment. Maybe you're constantly taking care of everyone else while quietly wondering when it'll finally be your turn. Maybe receiving love, rest, money, support, or joy feels strangely uncomfortable. If any of that sounds familiar, I want you to hear this: You may be living in survival mode. The beautiful thing about survival mode is that it isn't your identity. It's a pattern. And patterns can change. As a Shaman, Certified Emotion Code Practitioner, and coherence coach, I've watched people transform their lives not because they became different people, but because they stopped living from survival and started living from coherence. If you're queer, BIPOC, or someone who deeply values creating safer, more affirming spaces, I especially want you to know you're welcome here. Many of my clients have spent years carrying not only personal experiences, but also the chronic stress that can come from navigating environments where they haven't always felt fully seen or safe. This is a space where your full humanity is welcome. Let's talk about what survival mode actually is and, more importantly, how to move beyond it. What Is Survival Mode?Survival mode is your nervous system's way of protecting you. It's incredibly intelligent. When your brain senses danger, it prepares your body to survive. Your heart rate changes. Your muscles tense. Your attention narrows. Your body becomes incredibly efficient at keeping you alive. The problem is... Many of us learned to stay there. Sometimes because of childhood experiences. Sometimes because of difficult relationships. Sometimes because of chronic stress. Sometimes because of experiences of discrimination, grief, burnout, or simply carrying too much for too long. Eventually, your nervous system stops asking, "Am I safe?" and starts assuming, "I should probably stay ready." Over time, surviving begins to feel normal. You stop noticing the tension because you've been carrying it for so long. What Does Survival Mode Feel Like? Most people don't wake up thinking, "I'm living in survival mode." Instead, they say things like: "I'm exhausted." "I'm overwhelmed." "I can't make decisions." "I keep repeating the same patterns." "I don't trust myself." "I'm always waiting for something to go wrong." Those are often signs that your nervous system has learned to stay vigilant instead of relaxed. 7 Signs You May Be Living in Survival Mode 1. Rest Feels Uncomfortable Have you ever finally had a day off... ...only to spend the entire day feeling guilty? You tell yourself you should be cleaning. Working. Answering emails. Being productive. Your body doesn't know how to simply be. That isn't laziness. That's survival mode. 2. Your Mind Is Always Solving Problems Even when nothing is wrong. Your brain immediately asks: "What am I forgetting?" "What if this doesn't work?" "What happens next?" Your nervous system believes staying alert keeps you safe. 3. You Keep Repeating the Same Relationship Patterns Different people. Same dynamics. People pleasing. Overgiving. Difficulty trusting. Fear of being too much. Fear of not being enough. When our nervous system doesn't feel safe, it often recreates familiar patterns because familiar feels predictable. 4. Receiving Feels Hard Compliments. Love. Support. Money. Opportunities. Sometimes they feel surprisingly uncomfortable. Many people are incredibly skilled at giving. Receiving is where they freeze. 5. You Feel Responsible for Everyone Else You notice everyone's emotions before your own. You try to keep the peace. You over-explain. You apologize for existing. You carry emotional weight that doesn't belong to you. Sound familiar? 6. Small Things Feel Bigger Than They Are An email. A text message. Someone's facial expression. One unexpected expense. Your reaction feels much bigger than the situation itself. That isn't because you're weak. It's because your nervous system has very little extra capacity. 7. Peace Feels Strange This one surprises people. Sometimes chaos feels more familiar than calm. When life is peaceful... You start looking for what's wrong. You brace for bad news. You create problems that don't exist yet. Because your nervous system learned that calm doesn't last. What Is Coherence? This is where everything changed for me. You've probably heard me talk about coherence before. To me, coherence is when your thoughts, emotions, nervous system, and actions begin working together instead of pulling you in different directions. It's not about pretending everything is okay. It's not about toxic positivity. It's not about never feeling fear. It's about increasing your capacity to stay connected to yourself, even when life is difficult. Instead of reacting automatically... You respond intentionally. Instead of abandoning yourself... You stay with yourself. Instead of surviving... You begin living. What Happens When You Create More Coherence? People often imagine transformation looks dramatic. Sometimes it does. More often... It looks surprisingly ordinary. You answer the difficult email without spiraling. You have the hard conversation you've been avoiding. You stop apologizing for taking up space. You finally say yes to the thing you've secretly wanted. You stop replaying every interaction. You sleep better. You laugh more. You trust yourself. You notice beauty again. Your relationships deepen. You become available for joy. Those small moments create extraordinary lives. How I Help People Move Beyond Survival Mode There isn't one magic tool. Healing is about increasing your capacity over time. In my work, I use several approaches depending on what's most supportive. Sometimes that's nervous system regulation. Sometimes it's coaching. Sometimes it's the Emotion Code to help release trapped emotions that may be contributing to old patterns. Sometimes it's simply helping someone reconnect with themselves. The goal is always the same. More freedom. More choice. More coherence. Stop. Drop. Create. Coherence™ This philosophy became the foundation of my work because I realized most people don't need more information. They need more capacity. Here's the practice. Stop. Pause. Notice what's happening inside you. Without judgment. Without trying to fix it. Simply notice. Drop. Drop what you’re doing. Come back into your body. Feel your feet. Take a breath. Orient to your surroundings. Allow your nervous system to remember that this moment is different from the past. Create Coherence. Practice an evidence based exercise to get out of the fight/flight sequence. You Don't Have to Figure This Out Alone Learning to move beyond survival mode is about interrupting old patterns, old stories, and nourishing your nervous system. That process takes practice. That's exactly why I created my Stop. Drop. Create. Coherence™ Practice Series. Inside, I'll guide you through simple, practical exercises you can use to increase your capacity, regulate your nervous system, and begin creating a more coherent way of living. Practices you can return to again and again. Frequently Asked Questions Can you ever fully get out of survival mode? Many people find they can significantly increase their capacity to feel safe, connected, and present. Growth isn't about never feeling stressed again. It's about spending less time stuck there and knowing how to return to yourself more quickly. Is survival mode the same as fight, flight, freeze, or fawn? Survival mode often includes these protective responses. They are natural ways your nervous system responds to perceived danger. Can trapped emotions contribute to survival mode? Many people believe unresolved emotional experiences can influence how safe or activated they feel. In my practice, the Emotion Code is one of the tools I use to help release trapped emotions that may no longer be serving someone, creating more space for coherence. Is this work LGBTQ+ affirming? Absolutely. Many of the people I work with are queer, BIPOC, and allies. My practice is grounded in creating a space where your identity is honored and your humanity is welcomed. Your Life Doesn't Have to Be About Surviving What if the next chapter of your life wasn't about becoming tougher? What if it was about becoming more connected? More present. More open. More yourself. You deserve more than surviving. You deserve a coherent life. If you've ever caught yourself thinking...
"Why do I keep repeating this pattern?" "Why does this situation activate me every single time?" "Why do I know what I want, but still feel stuck?" You're not alone. Many people spend years trying to think their way out of emotional patterns that their subconscious has been carrying for decades. That's where the Emotion Code comes in. As a Certified Emotion Code Practitioner, I help people around the world release trapped emotions through simple, 30-minute sessions over the phone. There's no need to relive painful memories or spend months analyzing your past. Instead, we communicate with your subconscious to identify emotional baggage that may no longer be serving you and release it so you can move forward with greater ease. Whether you're navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, burnout, people pleasing, grief, confidence, business growth, or simply feeling like you've outgrown an old version of yourself, the Emotion Code offers a gentle way to create meaningful change. For many of my clients, one session is eye-opening. Five sessions are deeply transformative. What Is the Emotion Code? The Emotion Code is an energy healing modality developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson based on the idea that unresolved emotions can become "trapped" within the body and subconscious. These trapped emotions may continue influencing how we think, feel, react, and experience life long after the original event has passed. Using muscle testing, we communicate with the subconscious mind to identify trapped emotions that are ready to be released. Once identified, those emotions are released using a simple energetic process. The goal isn't to erase your memories. The goal is to remove the emotional charge that may still be influencing your life today. What Are Trapped Emotions? Imagine carrying around an invisible backpack. Every painful experience you never fully processed places another rock inside. Maybe it's heartbreak. Maybe it's rejection. Maybe it's fear. Maybe it's grief. Maybe it's shame. Maybe it's something you don't consciously remember. Over time, that backpack gets heavier. Eventually, you begin believing the weight is simply who you are. The Emotion Code is about setting those rocks down. Many Emotion Code practitioners also believe trapped emotions can be inherited through generations. In other words, you may be carrying emotional patterns that didn't begin with you. Whether an emotion comes from your own experiences or was inherited, the goal is the same: release what no longer serves you so you have more freedom to experience life differently. What Happens During an Emotion Code Session? One of my favorite things about the Emotion Code is how incredibly simple it is. You don't have to relive your trauma. You don't have to tell me every painful thing that's ever happened. You don't even have to know why you feel the way you do. Instead, we communicate with your subconscious using muscle testing to identify trapped emotions that are ready to be released. All of my sessions are conducted over the phone, making them accessible no matter where you live in the world. Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes. Sometimes intuitive insights come through during a session. When they do, I share them if they feel supportive and relevant. Otherwise, we simply allow your subconscious to lead the way. Easy. Gentle. Powerful. What Can the Emotion Code Help With? Every person's experience is different. People seek out Emotion Code sessions for many reasons, including:
Does the Emotion Code Really Work? This is probably the question I hear most often. Everyone's experience is unique, but many of my clients describe feeling lighter, calmer, clearer, and more like themselves after sessions. Recently, I invited clients into a five-session Summer Reset. The changes they experienced were incredible. People began letting go of outdated relationship patterns. They started believing that their desires mattered again. They opened their hearts to themselves and the people they love. Relationships deepened. Situations that previously caused them to freeze no longer held the same emotional charge. Many found themselves approaching challenges with greater confidence instead of anxiety. The beautiful part? These changes weren't about forcing themselves to think differently. They happened because they had more emotional space available after releasing what they no longer needed to carry. Why Is One Emotion Code Session Helpful but Five Sessions Are Transformative? Think about cleaning out a garage. One afternoon makes a noticeable difference. Five dedicated weekends completely transform the space. Your emotional world often works the same way. One Emotion Code session can create meaningful shifts. But emotional healing is rarely just one layer deep. As one trapped emotion is released, another may naturally become ready to surface. This is why I love working with clients over multiple sessions. Instead of stopping after one breakthrough, we continue creating space for the next one. Over five sessions, clients often notice they are:
Sometimes it's realizing you handled something differently without even thinking about it. Sometimes it's noticing you no longer abandon yourself. Sometimes it's finally believing your desires matter. Those quiet moments often become the biggest changes. How Can the Emotion Code Help You Live a More Coherent Life? If you've spent any time in my world, you've probably heard me talk about coherence. To me, coherence is the experience of your thoughts, emotions, body, and actions working together instead of pulling you in different directions. It's feeling more present, more connected to yourself, and more able to respond to life instead of reacting from old survival patterns. So where does the Emotion Code fit in? Imagine trying to tune a guitar with one string that keeps pulling itself out of tune. No matter how carefully you adjust the others, something still feels off. Trapped emotions can work in a similar way. If your subconscious is still carrying unresolved emotional baggage, it may be harder to stay connected to the version of yourself you're becoming. You might notice yourself slipping back into old reactions, familiar fears, or patterns that no longer match the life you're trying to create. Releasing trapped emotions can create more space for coherence. Many clients tell me they feel calmer, more grounded, and more capable of navigating situations that once felt overwhelming. Instead of freezing, people often find it easier to access curiosity, compassion, confidence, or clarity. Coherence isn't about being happy all the time or never experiencing difficult emotions. It's about increasing your capacity to stay connected to yourself, even when life is challenging. The Emotion Code is one of the tools I use to help people create that kind of lasting change. By releasing trapped emotions that no longer serve you, it becomes easier to move through life with an open heart, greater resilience, and a deeper sense of alignment with who you truly are. Why I Love the Emotion Code I've trained in coaching, subconscious work, nervous system regulation, and intuitive practices. I genuinely love all of them. But the Emotion Code holds a special place in my heart because of how beautifully simple it is. We don't have to spend months unpacking every painful chapter of your life. We don't have to force healing. We simply listen to your subconscious. We identify what it's ready to release. Then we release it. Easy. Gentle. Powerful. Again and again, I've watched people discover more freedom without needing to relive everything they've survived. That simplicity is what makes this work so profound. A Safe Space for Queer Folks, BIPOC, and Allies Many of the people I work with are queer, BIPOC, and allies who have spent years carrying not only personal experiences but also the emotional impact of navigating a world that hasn't always felt safe or affirming. Whether you're carrying heartbreak, chronic stress, fear, grief, or simply the exhaustion of always having to be strong, you deserve a space where your humanity is honored. My practice is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and respect. You don't need to explain or justify your identity here. You simply get to show up exactly as you are. Frequently Asked Questions Can Emotion Code sessions be done remotely? Yes. All of my Emotion Code sessions are conducted over the phone, allowing us to work together from anywhere in the world. How long is an Emotion Code session? Each session is approximately 30 minutes. Do I have to talk about my trauma? No. One of the reasons I love the Emotion Code is that you don't have to relive painful experiences or share every detail of your past for meaningful work to happen. How many Emotion Code sessions do I need? While one session can be incredibly impactful, I've found that five sessions provide the consistency needed to create deeper, longer-lasting transformation for many people. Have you ever noticed that personal growth isn't usually about discovering something new? Most of the people I work with already know a lot. They've read the books. They've attended the workshops. They've invested in coaching. They've done therapy. They've had profound breakthroughs and moments of deep healing. They understand manifestation, mindset, nervous system regulation, boundaries, self-worth, and conscious creation. And yet... Life happens. A difficult conversation. A financial challenge. A health concern. A relationship issue. An unexpected setback. And suddenly they're reacting in ways they thought they had already moved beyond. Old fears return. Self-doubt resurfaces. People-pleasing comes back online. Scarcity sneaks in. The nervous system shifts into survival mode. Many people interpret this as failure. I don't. Because the problem usually isn't a lack of knowledge. The problem is learning how to consistently embody what you already know. Why Knowledge Alone Doesn't Create Lasting Transformation One of the biggest misconceptions in the personal development world is the belief that another breakthrough will finally fix everything. That if we can just find the right book... The right teacher... The right meditation... The right healing modality... Then we'll finally arrive. But lasting transformation doesn't happen because of a single breakthrough. It happens through consistent practice. It's built through repetition. It's strengthened through embodiment. It's reinforced through community. The truth is that most people experience alignment. Few people learn how to remain aligned when life gets difficult. That's where real growth happens. Not when conditions are perfect. But when conditions aren't. What Happens When You Learn to Regulate Your Nervous System Many of the challenges people face aren't caused by a lack of intelligence, spirituality, or capability. They're often the result of an activated nervous system. When we enter survival mode, our ability to access creativity, problem-solving, intuition, connection, and self-trust decreases. We become reactive instead of responsive. Protective instead of expansive. Fearful instead of intentional. Learning nervous system regulation creates a different possibility. Instead of being controlled by external circumstances, you develop the capacity to remain grounded during uncertainty. Instead of abandoning yourself under pressure, you learn how to stay connected to your values and vision. Instead of waiting for life to feel safe, you become the source of safety. This is one of the foundations of coherence. What Is Coherence? Coherence is the ability to create alignment between your thoughts, emotions, body, and actions. It's the opposite of operating from chronic survival mode. When you're coherent, you have greater access to:
It means you become more capable of navigating life effectively. You stop being tossed around by every challenge and begin responding from your highest self more consistently. Why Community Accelerates Growth One of the reasons personal growth can feel frustrating is because many people try to do it alone. Growth isn't meant to happen in isolation. Humans are wired for connection. We learn through reflection, support, accountability, and being witnessed. When you're surrounded by people committed to growth, possibility, and personal responsibility, transformation becomes easier to sustain. You begin normalizing the very behaviors and beliefs you're trying to cultivate. You stop feeling like you're carrying everything by yourself. You gain support during difficult moments and celebration during successful ones. Community helps make thriving sustainable. The Difference Between Surviving and Thriving Survival mode asks: "How do I get through this?" Thriving asks: "How do I create from this?" Survival mode focuses on protection. Thriving focuses on possibility. Survival mode reacts to circumstances. Thriving consciously shapes reality. Neither state makes you a good or bad person. But one creates a very different quality of life. The goal isn't perfection. The goal is increasing your capacity to return to coherence faster and more consistently. Over time, thriving becomes your baseline instead of the exception. Coherence is needed to feel the uncomfortable emotions of white guilt; otherwise, the fight-or-flight response could be activated. Nobody wants to come off as a “bad person.” Being deemed “guilty” or associated with a group of people that did things you don’t agree with by another large group of people could seem extremely scary to the nervous system. When your logical brain is saying, “I don’t believe in what my predecessors believe in. I didn’t do anything personally. I would never do those things.” You’re in defense mode. When you feel defensive or protective of yourself, even subconsciously, your actions reflect those feelings. Feeling defensive and protective leads to performative allyship, which is confusing because, if you’re paying reparations or hiring marginalized individuals, as just one example, how could that be performative? The motivation behind those actions is so YOU feel better. You’re reacting to your nervous system activation, taking those actions to feel safer. Even though you might have the best intentions, without addressing and tending to the nervous system activation and becoming coherent BEFORE you act, the performative energy will be felt by others. These actions have the vibe of “take the money so I don't have to feel uncomfortable.” What would happen if you were willing to get coherent and feel uncomfortable to become a better ally? If, when you’re radically honest with yourself, you find yourself in the land of white fragility, aka fight, flight, fawn, or freeze about the topic of race and privilege, I can help you cultivate the capacity to feel uncomfortable, because doing so is important. You have to be willing to confront white guilt or guilt about the privileges you have, feel the feelings that come up when you do, and recognize how those feelings motivate you into action. Why is this important? Because actions create results. What are the results of performative allyship? Yes, sometimes reparations are performative, and when they are, they carry the energy of survival. Any type of reparation born from your survival energy will only be a short-term solution for those you’re trying to make amends with. If you’re re-acting from fight-flight and haven't changed the way you think about yourself or others. You will continue to perpetuate something you feel guilty about, to begin with. Get coherent. Be a coherent ally. When you do, you’ll be more authentic about the actions you take. Your actions won’t be about making yourself feel more regulated; they will be about having the capacity to change how you think about what’s going on and showing up differently than those before you. Coherence, in essence, is connection and communication. When a body is in coherence, all its parts are in sync and communicating with each other. The body goes into thriving mode. Can you see how taking action from THIS place, rather than from guilt, or fight, and flight energy, could affect the results you create? As within so without. A coherent ally creates unity and communication from within. I wonder what could be created in the world with that energy? I’m inviting 3 allies to coach with me 1 on 1 about this. We will work together to cultivate the capacity to be a coherent ally. Our work will consist of creating a new baseline of coherence in your body and building more capacity to reflect on and deliberately choose what you want to think about those you’re advocating for. Remember, thoughts create emotions, actions, and results. Our work together will help you become clear about what your desired results are and what you will need to think and feel to achieve them. What could we accomplish if we work together? Let's find out. Book a free coaching consult today. Every human is pure energy and intention, capable of shaping their reality on purpose. Most people are trapped in survival mode, burnt out, fearful, reactive, or numb. They cycle through inherited patterns and familiar emotional states that keep them disconnected from their power. This is not weakness. Modern culture deliberately activates fight, flight, freeze, fawn, and shutdown through messages, images, and frequencies that overwhelm the nervous system and pull people away from their inner truth. My work interrupts that cycle. I teach people how to Stop. Drop. Create Coherence™, which is a bio physiological shift out of survival mode and into clarity, awareness, and grounded personal sovereignty. In coherence the nervous system steadies, consciousness expands, and a person can more easily access the part of themselves that remembers the truth: I am Creator. I am not a victim of circumstance. Coherence is the bridge between surviving and thriving. It transforms trans-generational trauma, dissolves fear based patterns, and opens the door to deliberate creation. When someone becomes coherent, they reclaim their personal power, their self belief, and their ability to create the life they want. My message is simple and universal: Get into coherence so you can create on purpose. When your internal state shifts, your entire reality reorganizes around what becomes possible. If this message resonates, the first step is simple: create coherence on purpose. Your nervous system is the gateway to your power. When you shift out of survival mode and into coherence, your entire reality begins to reorganize around possibility. If you are ready to experience that shift instead of just reading about it, I invite you to join the Stop. Drop. Create Coherence™ Cohort. - A four week virtual nervous system gym designed to shift you out of survival mode and into your full creative power. Your coherence is the beginning of everything. Click here to access: **For teams and organizations who want to move out of reactivity and into clarity, I offer virtual and in person coherence workshops and Lunch & Learns. These sessions help leaders and staff regulate their nervous systems, access their prefrontal intelligence, and work from a place of presence and possibility. We are living in a time where many people are disconnected from their hearts without even realizing it. The constant stream of stimuli that many humans are exposed to activates the survival system again and again until openness, and connection begin to collapse. This creates a kind of internal entropy. Through coherence science, my lived experience, and the teachings I have gathered on my path, I have learned that a heart based reality is not only possible, it is something we can create on purpose. And when we do, the way we lead, relate, and show up in the world changes in powerful ways that are available to everyone.
The coherence - aloha connection. Before I ever learned the science of coherence, I learned aloha. I lived in Hawaii for five years, and the islands shaped me in a way I am still discovering. Before leaving the island of Hawaii, I went to the volcano to pay homage - something my indigenous roots have taught me to do. Standing with Pele, the volcano goddess, I felt a message that has permeated everything since. I was granted the opportunity to live in Hawaii for five years so I could learn what aloha truly is. And now it was time to go, because my responsibility was not to stay on the island. It was to be aloha everywhere I went. At the time, I did not have the language of coherence. I did not know the science of the heart, the nervous system, and the electromagnetic field. But I knew what aloha. I knew aloha to be in harmony with myself, with the land, and with others. I knew aloha as living with an open heart. Later, when I discovered coherence, everything clicked. Coherence is the scientific language for what aloha has taught me. Aloha is not a greeting. Aloha is coherent living. What it means to live in a heart based reality A heart based reality is a world where everyone is living from their heart. It is a world where people gladly share with one another. Where there is mutual respect between all beings, including animals and the land. A world where hearts are open because the nervous system is regulated. A world where people are no longer driven by fear based self protection. For many people this image is beautiful. For others it is terrifying. Especially for those who have lived in chronic survival mode. When you have had to protect your heart for years, openness can feel dangerous. Vulnerability can feel unsafe. Love can feel like a risk. This is why coherence matters. Coherence helps heal the heart. When the nervous system is regulated, the heart can soften. When the system is not fighting for its life, it can shift out of reactivity and into alignment. When the body is no longer bracing for danger, it can open. In survival mode, the body reallocates resources to help you run, fight, or hide. The entire system shifts into a narrow focus of self preservation. This is not a moral failing. It is biology. And biology can be changed. A heart based reality is not created by forcing the heart open. It is created by helping the body feel safe enough to open on its own. The science of coherence and why it matters Coherence is the state where your heart, brain, and nervous system are working together in harmony. It is a measurable physiological state that can be tracked by heart rate variability and brain wave activity. It is associated with increased clarity, emotional stability, compassion, decision making capacity, and resilience. Coherence is the antidote to chronic stress. Not in a bypassing way. Not in a toxic positivity way. But in a grounded, embodied, scientifically supported way. The HeartMath Institute has shown that when the heart is coherent, it sends a stable signal to the brain that increases cognitive function. Somatic experts have shown that when the nervous system is regulated, the body can access creativity, connection, and intuition. Practitioners in Hawaiian and indigenous traditions have known for centuries that the heart is the bridge to wisdom, unity, and life force. This is why coherence is a return to aloha. It brings the body back into alignment with the heart. It restores the natural intelligence that stress suppresses. It allows us to live in a way that honors all life. Survival mode reality vs heart based reality Survival mode reality is fear based. It is driven by self protection. It keeps people in fight, flight, fawn, or freeze. It disconnects us from ourselves and each other. In survival mode, leadership becomes reactive. Creativity collapses. Relationships strain. Communities fracture. Vision becomes cloudy. Heart based reality is love based. It is driven by coherence. It keeps people aligned with their values. It allows leaders to think clearly, speak intentionally, and act with courage. It supports collaboration, compassion, and innovation. It expands our capacity to navigate life with wisdom and presence. One is based on physiological stress. The other is based on physiological coherence. This is not a mindset shift. It is a nervous system shift. And collective coherence begins one person at a time. Stop. Drop. Create Coherence My method, Stop. Drop. Create Coherence, is the bridge between the two realities of fear and love. It helps to Stop to interrupt the survival mode pattern. Drop into the body and reconnect with the heart. Create coherence through ancient and modern evidence based practices. This is how we build a heart based world. Through practice, awareness, and nervous system regulation. Through the willingness to soften where fear once hardened us. When we shift our internal state, our external world shifts with us. This is how leaders transform their organizations from the inside out. This is how change-makers become sustainable. This is how advocates stay grounded in the long haul. This is how communities become resilient and shift from surviving to thriving. Invitation into coherence The Coherence Cohort Replay Series is a gentle doorway back to your heart. It is a life practice. And it is a practice that can change everything. A heart based reality begins with one regulated nervous system and open heart at a time. You have the power to create coherence in your life and in the collective Click here to access the Coherence Cohort Replay Series Olympia, Washington — Shaman Tai Ma LLC is honored to be featured in the Washington Center for Women in Business Monthly Spotlight. This recognition highlights the value Tai Ma brings to the community as a queer, Indigenous, women-owned business committed to expanding access to trauma-informed leadership, nervous system education, and coherence practices for individuals and organizations.
In the spotlight, Tai shared current work subcontracting with Hatching at the Seattle Animal Shelter alongside Ahnungway to support staff and leadership in cultivating coherence and trauma-informed practices. This ongoing partnership focuses on helping teams shift out of stress and reactivity and into clarity, grounded presence, and sustainable capacity. To expand this work to additional organizations, Tai has launched Lunch and Learn sessions designed to introduce simple, science-backed tools that help employees and leaders move out of survival mode and into coherence. These sessions provide teams with accessible practices they can apply immediately in high-responsibility, high-impact environments. The feature also highlighted the Stop. Drop. Create Coherence Replay Series, a four-week virtual nervous system gym that includes six months of access. The series is available now, with a promotional code offering the program for $97 instead of the regular $200. Reflecting on the recognition, Tai shared: “I am grateful to be in the WCWB monthly spotlight. I believe in the power of my work and hope to help as many people as I can. My commitment is to bring coherence, nervous system regulation, and trauma-informed tools to communities, organizations, and leaders who are ready for support.” Tai’s personal journey is at the heart of this work. After years spent in survival mode and chronic fight or flight, they discovered how to regulate the nervous system in a way that brought their energy healing, mindset practices, and lived experience into coherence. That shift became the foundation for Tai’s unique approach, which blends life coaching, somatic tools, energy work, and science-backed nervous system strategies. Today, they support clients and organizations with compassion, resilience, and a commitment to liberation-centered leadership. Shaman Tai Ma LLC continues to serve individuals, teams, and organizations across Washington and beyond through coaching, workshops, coherence training, and trauma-informed leadership support. For organizations interested in bringing coherence practices to their staff or leadership team, Tai is currently booking Lunch and Learn sessions and consulting engagements. More free time. More connection with those they love. More trust in themselves and in the universe. But here’s what’s interesting. When I talk to clients about welcoming more into their lives, sometimes, something in them tenses. They tell themselves: “I don’t need more.” “I don’t want more.” And I get it. When you’re already holding so much—work, family, responsibilities—the idea of adding more can feel like pressure instead of possibility. Why “More” Has a Bad Rap I once asked a client if she wanted to ask for a raise. She immediately said no. When I asked her why, she told me more money would mean more responsibility. But when I asked, “What if that’s not true?” she paused. What if she was already undercharging for what she did? What if she wasn’t fully seeing the value she already brought to the table? Her brain was trying to keep her safe. But staying “safe” meant staying small, staying tired, and settling. She wasn't seeing the value she already brings to the table. Asking for a raise wouldn’t have meant doing more. It might have actually created more of what she wanted: more peace, more spaciousness, more freedom to focus on what really matters. We Cut Ourselves Off from “More” Isn’t it funny how we sometimes cut ourselves off from more with the stories we tell ourselves? We say we don’t want more when what we really mean is, “I don’t want more pressure.” But wanting more isn’t the problem. It’s how we go about getting it that matters. What “More” Really Means in My Work Many of my clients want more free time, more connection, more trust—in themselves, their work, and life itself. That’s what we cultivate inside Level Up Mastermind. Leveling up doesn’t mean adding more tasks or hours. It means cultivating the ability to do less with more clarity, confidence, and high quality thinking. It means leading your life from trust instead of tension. Because aligned action is always more powerful than over-actioning from scarcity. Final Reflection So if you find yourself saying, “I don’t need more” or “I don’t want more,” ask yourself, “What if that’s not true?” What if more could actually feel like relief? Interested in learning how to create that kind of ease in your own life?
